As onshore wind turbines tend to be in sensitive rural countryside and farmlands, with offshore developments in the marine environment, it is essential that any cleaning products meet stringent ecotoxicology and biodegradability requirements to minimize the impact on the local flora and fauna.

Offshore wind power has developed rapidly over the last decade and is considered a major renewable energy source. Currently, the most common type of offshore turbine structure is installed on monopile foundations. These have been found to be susceptible to internal corrosion due to seawater & oxygen ingress into the sealed compartments of the monopile foundations.
